TU Munich's library workplaces are equipped with LUCTRA® lamps

At the Technical University in Munich (TUM) some 38,000 students study scientific and engineering subjects every year. With the recent redesign of its historic library rooms, a new lighting system was also installed which optimally supports the work of its users.
Architect Anton Streit-Britschgi, who is responsible for the remodelling project and consequently also for the interior design of the library of TU Munich, says: “The students sometimes work here in our library all day. Therefore it was important for us to find a lighting system of superior quality, even closely resembling daylight, which can be adjusted to the varying needs of individual users.”
Students have soundproof reading cabins, or carrels, at their disposal on site so that they can concentrate on their work inside the library. Surrounded by glass walls and lockable, these cabins provide an environment for many hours of undisturbed, personal study. In addition to the stringent demands on the quality of the light and its personal adjustability, the lighting must also withstand long periods of intensive use, be easy to operate, yet be of robust design and take up as little space as possible when fastened to the table top.
“After a few tests, we came to the conclusion that LUCTRA® is the ideal lamp to meet our requirements. The main argument in its favour was its biologically effective light.”
